A temporary home. A lasting difference.

Open your home to a rescued cat while they wait for adoption. Your care gives them a safe place to grow, recover, and show their true personality.

A little space can change a life

We are always looking for loving foster homes for kittens, moms with litters, and adult cats. Some of whom need extra patience, socializing, and gentle encouragement. Fostering gives them a safe place to grow, heal, and shine. We’ll match you with the cats who are the best fit for your home and lifestyle.

Short-term fostering

Many of our cats travel from Southern California to Washington by transport. They need a private room in a foster home to decompress after the trip.

Cats who have not been adopted after their two-week stay at PetSmart Adoption Center may also need a foster home where they can relax for a few weeks before returning to the adoption center.

Long-term fostering

Young kittens and older cats may benefit from staying in a foster home until adoption. For these cats, we look for longer-term foster homes so they can be adopted directly from a home environment rather than from PetSmart Adoption Center.

You provide the home. We help with the essentials.

We provide food, a litter box, toys, and a scratcher for the cats in your care. Our team helps match you with a foster cat who fits your home and lifestyle.

Before welcoming a cat, we’ll talk through their needs, the supplies to have ready, and the support available. You can ask questions along the way.

What you bring

A safe, comfortable space, daily care, and patience. Help your foster cat settle in, spend time getting to know them, and share updates with our team.
