Sky’s Story: From Parking Lot to Forever Home
Sky’s Story: From Parking Lot to Forever Home

Sky was asking for help. She was found wandering through a parking lot, walking up to strangers and crying out — pregnant, vulnerable, and out of time. One Good Samaritan couldn’t ignore her. He brought her home, hoping to give her a safe place to rest.
That same day, Sky gave birth. Not in a shelter. Not in a clinic…but tucked safely inside a dresser drawer — where she instinctively created a warm, hidden space for her babies.
An adoption partner in Southern California took Sky and her kittens in, caring for them until they were strong enough to travel north to us. From the beginning, it was clear — Sky was an incredible mother. She was devoted, gentle, and completely in love with her kittens…especially two who quickly became her favorites.
When it came time for Sky to be spayed, we received unexpected news: the veterinarian detected a heart murmur.
Everything paused.
To understand what Sky was facing, we moved forward with diagnostic imaging, including x-rays. Initial results suggested her heart might be enlarged — a potentially serious condition. The next step was an echocardiogram to know for sure.
While we waited for answers, something beautiful happened.
A wonderful couple adopted two of Sky’s kittens and chose to foster Sky as well, so the family could stay together during her recovery and testing. They didn’t hesitate. They made space in their home and their hearts for all three.
Then came the news we had been hoping for…Sky’s heart is healthy!
No enlargement. No long-term condition. Just a scare — and a second chance.
That same couple didn’t think twice. They made it official and adopted Sky, ensuring she would never be separated from her babies again.
Today, Sky is safe, loved, and exactly where she belongs — curled up with her kittens in a home that chose all of them.
