Princess: The Cat Who Brought a Community Together

Princess found her way to a senior living home—quietly slipping into the outdoor smoking area where residents gathered each day.

That’s where she found her people.

The seniors named her Princess, and she quickly became part of their daily routine—offering comfort, companionship, and something to look forward to. She was friendly, social, and full of love.

And other cats noticed.

Soon, what started as one cat turned into many. Word spread in the way it does among strays, and before long, nearly 50 cats—including moms with five litters of kittens—had gathered in the same place. It had become a safe haven.

But Princess remained the heart of it all.

Because she was the most social, the seniors made one thing clear when we stepped in to help:
“Please take good care of Princess.”

We promised we would.

At first, everything seemed on track. Princess was brought into rescue, spayed, and finally on her way to a safer life.

Then, everything changed.

Shortly after her surgery, Princess became critically ill.

She developed Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)—a once nearly always fatal disease. Her condition declined rapidly. She lost her vision as her retinas detached. She struggled to breathe. Her tiny body was fighting a battle it wasn’t expected to win.

But we weren’t ready to give up on her.

We began treatment through FIP Global Warriors, using life-saving medication that, at the time, was not yet widely accessible (and is now FDA approved). Day by day, dose by dose, Princess fought.

And she survived.

Not only did she survive—she recovered.

Today, Princess has been healthy for several years. The cat who once stood at the center of a colony, who brought comfort to a community, and who fought through one of the most devastating diagnoses imaginable… is still here.

And now, she’s ready for her happy ending.
